Long Distance Relationships

Long Distance Relationship? How to Keep it Warm with Flowers

Long distance relationships can be difficult to navigate, but it doesn’t have to be impossible. Here are our tips for staying close, even when you’re far apart.

For starters, acknowledge that long distance relationships aren’t all romantic! Romance is what most people think of when they hear “long distance relationship” but it isn’t the only kind. There are long distance business relationships, long distance friendships, long distance family relationships, and long distance relationships that are only long distance temporarily. All of them can benefit from these simple things.

  • 1. Say “I Miss You”. It doesn’t have to be those words exactly (not best for a business setting for sure). But letting them know you appreciate the moments when you get to see them in person also lets them know you think about them and appreciate the effort they put into your relationship. You can do this with a quick text, and email, or even with flowers! A low maintenance succulent is perfect for this kind of “I miss you” message, and bonus they keep for a while with almost no effort.
  • 2. Remember their birthday, especially if you won’t see them during their special day. Sending a bouquet and a box of chocolates for them to enjoy on their birthday is a great way to show you care. For romantic relationships go a step further, trying to make the whole month about them. Sending a new and different bouquet once a week so they always have fresh flowers, this may sound like a lot but trust us, it’ll make them swoon.
  • 3. Don’t skimp on holidays. This can be tricky if you don’t celebrate the same holidays, but chances are you have an idea of what they celebrate, and our experts can help you with the dates! A lovely poinsettia plant is perfect for Christmas, while something like marigolds are more appropriate for Day Of The Dead.
  • 4. Make sure you know their traditions. If your loved one is originally from another country it’s good to keep in mind what flowers mean to them. In some areas, like Russia, sending an even number of flowers is considered bad luck. Where in other countries white flowers are for funerals only.
  • 5. Celebrate their victories! Sending a bouquet with a fruit basket is great for a promotion, or graduation. If they get a new place, welcome them with a plant to liven it up. If they got a new job, that’s the perfect time to throw in a bottle of wine. Whatever the reason for celebrating, if you can’t be there in person, be there in spirit with flowers and a little something extra.
  • 6. Probably the most important rule is to send them something for no reason at all. Holidays, birthdays, and life milestones are important. But showing them you’re there on any random day of the week can mean so much more. This is especially true in romantic relationships. Try sending a bouquet just because you want them to smile and see what happens, we think you’ll like it.

Remember that whatever reason you’re sending flowers you want to make sure the bouquet suits them. Roses are a classic romantic gift, but some people actually don’t like them. Our customer service team can help give you advice, but no one knows your recipient better than they do. Make sure you ask about their favorite color, season, and yes get right to the point and ask about their favorite flower.

All of this information will help you pick out or build a bouquet that is perfect for them.
